Hard to believe that our little baby is turning 3 this week ( May 17th). With family popping in and out of Orlando, her birthday has been a month-long celebration. Just a few short weeks ago, my parents and siblings along with my niece and nephew celebrated early with us. She was showered with gifts and had two different cakes. Then just a few days ago Jana's parents were here along with her aunt, uncle, and cousins. We opened gifts, had cake, and played with the new toys she got from all our generous family!
All the gifts were certainly perfect in Callie's eyes. She really can't decide which to play with or which she likes more. One gift stood out to Jana and I. Jana's sister Leah and her husband Jared got Callie the doll below!
It is funny, as I looked at the doll I was thinking "how interesting! How do they get the baby to wet her pants?" (the doll is wearing a diaper and after feeding it a bottle of "real" water it runs through the plastic of the doll and comes out to fill the diaper) It wasn't until second later I noticed the dark skin color and realized the doll was picked out for more specific reasons. This gift from Callie's aunt and uncle reminded us of how lucky we are to have such caring siblings and family who are so supportive of our decision to adopt. Needless to say, Callie hasn't let this thing go. She puts her to bed, feeds her meals and snacks, and attempts to change her diapers! I am sure this doll will prove a great tool to help Callie understand our family's future and the exciting adventures we have ahead.
